Slapping at the ball

Finally able to naturally get the head dip after impact. I always wondered how to do this. And now it's comes with the changes to my swing. The other thing I noticed is that my swing path is naturally more inside out, or I should say my follow through is more outside even thought it doesn't feel like it when I'm swinging. But the tape confirms it.

  • Right hand in "stop" position like going to slap at the ball at top of backswig
  • right should proped up and downswing like coming over the top
  • Turn hips level, keep right hip high
  • At the last second before impact LSB
The image of my swing path is straight down the line but it's the LSB on the downswing which brings the club inside. Completely different conception of the swing. But now I see it in pros swings. Funny how you see what you're looking for.

Balls going straight to slight draw. Dosn't feel natural at all.

Left shoulder down at impact

OK serious longest mystery solved. Just slight post impact was standing up with driver. Hated that for longest time! Just had to feel like was going down at impact and then "sneaking through" post impact. Retained LSB and stopped pushing the ball. But power was way low. But swing way more correct.
Have played with this before but not really concentrated on it.
Different swing thoughts to get this:

  • Think about Patrick
  • Don't just rotate through cause left shoulder comes up too much, think left shoulder down on downswing
OK after second session in the afternoon more thoughts. It involves the sequencing. Instead of crunching right side at top need to turn level with hips first then crunch before impact.
  • Turn hips level toward target
  • Shoulders almost feeling like their coming over the top
  • LSB and dip down right before impact

Playing around with several ideas:

  • Hammer throw or slinging the club. This is more of a timing thing and letting the arms whip the club instead of the wrists. It definitley increases distance and visualizing and inside out path is easier.
  • Strong grip from Kelvin. This worked well with all clubs except driver which was not consistent
  • Got back to shoulders and getting my left arms up around my shoulders and not around my waist. This logically increases LSB since arms are out from shoulders and not hanging down. Need to analyze more video of pros to see this. Ex. compare Furyk with DJ.

straight left arm

keeping left arm straight which is giving more lag. in combo with reb still gives control and helps to shift weight forward. was harder to hit draws but velocity was up.
